Crafting a distinctive brand identity for a premium gin

Savants' is an independent spirits distillery dedicated to blending artistry with their original beverages. We collaborated to create a bottle that communicates heritage and premium quality, while establishing a distinct point of view within a crowded and highly trend-driven spirits market.

The bottle was designed to feel timeless rather than fashionable, drawing from gin's historical lineage and experimentative culture surrounding early distillation. Through typography, illustration, and material-focused art direction, it positions Savants’ as a brand that values process, knowledge, and craft.

The spirits category is saturated with visual clichés like minimalistic labels, rustic aesthetics, or novelty-driven branding. Savants’ needed a distinct identity that felt intellectual and crafted, without appearing dated or overly ornamental.

The goal was to balance historical influence and artistic expression without sacrificing clarity or shelf impact.

The conceptual foundation of Savants’ gin draws from its medieval European lineage, when distillation was closely tied to craft and scholarly pursuit.

Rather than referencing this history literally, the bottle abstracts these influences through subtle illustrative detail. Illustration and typography were developed in parallel to give its chic style a modern appeal.

The final identity centers on a carefully composed label system that emphasizes clarity, proportion, and material presence while balancing elegance and legibility.

By blending its history with modern design sensibilities, the bottle demonstrates how thoughtful branding and packaging can elevate a product beyond the aesthetics, while being both a functional product and a souvenir.
